Kate Bosworth x J Brand launch spring capsule

Kate Bosworth has teamed up with J Brand to launch a spring capsule to raise awareness about human sex trafficking, a cause the actress and her filmmaker husband have been drawing attention to over the past two years.

Sulem Calderon models J Brand's Love tee - Kate Bosworth

The collection features button fly denim bottoms in two washes, denim pants with a pleat-front waist, a jumpsuit, and the Love tee, a long-sleeve white tee with the word "love" embroidered in the collar.

J Brand is donating 100% of net proceeds from the sale of the $118 Love tee to the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking, an organization that helps rehabilitate victims of human trafficking.

Bosworth explains on J Brand's landing page for the collection that the collaboration was born after a meeting between herself and Mary Peffer, J Brand's senior marketing and communications director.

"She asked what my interests were currently, and I answered with the desire to create more behind the lens," she says. Peffer was, according to Bosworth, "intrigued and 100% supportive," thus laying the foundation for the collaboration.

"Considering the nature of the collaboration, I thought it could be a powerful message to write the word ‘love' on the collar of the shirt... When you meet survivors of human trafficking, they are all so full of love, despite their past circumstances," Bosworth continued.

The campaign for the collection features actress Sulem Calderon as the model and is shot entirely by Bosworth.

Calderon is the actress who played a Honduran girl entrapped in human trafficking in Bosworth's award-winning film, Nona, which was produced by Bosworth and her filmmaker husband, Michael Polish, in response to their discovery that a human trafficking house was busted nearby their own home in LA.

Speaking to InStyle about the motivation behind the film, Bosworth explained, "We sort of generally understood sex trafficking in a vaguer context, but we didn't know how severe of an epidemic it is."

Bosworth has previously collaborated with other labels including Topshop, Matisse and Lucky Brand.

The Kate Bosworth x J Brand collection is now on sale online through J Brand's site.
