Kakatiya Mega Textile Park inaugurates construction

On October 22, the foundation stone for the upcoming Kakatiya Mega Textile Park was laid during an official ceremony as building construction commences for the project that promises to create 66,000 jobs in the area.

The foundation stone for the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park building project was laid by the Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandrashekar Rao. A meeting was also held by the Minister for IT and Industries, K T Rama Rao, to discuss the park’s progress and future.

The construction project, which is taking place Shayampet in Chintapalli Village in Telangana’s Warangal district, currently spans 1,200 acres of land. Following the project’s first phase, the target area for the construction site is 2,000 acres. As Telangana is one of India’s largest cotton producing areas, the aim is for the park to supply both the state and the rest of India with textiles. The park will also be constructed to have eco-friendly features such as zero liquid discharge facilities.

An official release from the building project said: “This being a major textile park in the country, it will help in generating 22,000 direct and 44,000 indirect employment opportunities to the youth of Telangana. In total, the textile park will create 66,000 jobs in its first phase… Investors from across the globe are showing interest in investing in the Park. Presently, 12 companies have agreed to invest in the textile park with an investment to the tune of Rs 3,000 crore [approximately 450.9 million dollars].”
