This year’s spring/ summer edition of JFW has been making a tour of India’s metros and, after running in Mumbai on May 13 and Pune on May 20, JFW came to New Delhi on June 9 and 10. A day of workshops kicked off the event on June 9.

As this season there were no auditions for the child models as part of an initiative to build the children’s confidence, a light, camera, and pose “learning session”, a modelling and grooming session, and a stage confidence building session were held to help prepare the participating children for the next day of runway shows. A professional photoshoot and “super mom’s party” were also held.

On June 10, the runway shows took place. A number of international brands showed collections at the event including US Polo Assn., Flying Machine Boyzone, Marks & Spencer, The Children’s Place, and Cherry Crumble. These are all international children’s clothing brands that have flagship stores or retail in India. Lakmé Academy was the event’s styling partner powered by Aptech, Institute of Photography was the memory partner, and Apha Ads was the outdoor partner.

The continued running of JFW and its expansion to other cities reflects the increasing organisation of the children’s wear market in India. Parents appear to be more ready to invest a greater amount of money in their children’s clothing and seek out international brands.
