Jeremy Scott: "My role in fashion is to bring some fun"

At the end of 2013, Jeremy Scott was appointed Creative Director at Moschino. A media darling, the American designer has worked on multiple collaborations, from Cybex baby buggies to Adidas sneakers. CNN Style followed him during the latest fashion week marathon. He took the opportunity to give his opinion on fashion, on London and on his friendship with Karlie Kloss. The interview is re-broadcast on FashionMag.com.

Jeremy Scott notably touched upon the following issues:

His love for pop culture iconography:

"I love the iconography, it's an integral part of my design language and my artistic expression. I think it's a mode of expression that countless people coming from different cultures can understand all over the world... I'm American, it's in my genes."

His desire to inject a sense of humour into fashion:

"My role in fashion is to bring some fun, to generate excitement, to push the envelope and always go a little bit further. People are so serious in the fashion world. There's nothing you can do about it, it's how it is. But if for 10 minutes, the time for a show, we could forget about all of these woes, I feel it would be a nice gift. "

His friendship with model Karlie Kloss :

"Karlie and I have a funny thing in common: we're both from Missouri, which isn't really well-known for its high fashion. Besides being wonderful, she's an adorable woman, extremely well-raised and well-mannered. She knocks it out of the park."

His love of London:

"I love London. This is why I chose it as the venue of my menswear show. I find London so extraordinary, I have many friends here and I always had such wonderful support from the English press. I've always felt at home in London. I'd love to be able to live part of my life here because it's such a wonderful city, full of such vibrancy. I love the fact that you can wear absolutely anything you want and no one gives a hoot, which is perfect if you love to dress extreme. "

His public image:

"When people look at me, they think I have a very strong personality. The way I dress won't leave you indifferent, and it's the same for my creations. I think people expect me to be bouncing off the walls, and I'm actually completely the opposite. It's an image that fits me perfectly. "
