Taiwanese Canadian fashion designer Jason Wu took to social media on Tuesday to unveil his new Grey Jason Wu contemporary line.

Grey Jason Wu, which is named after Wu’s favorite color, is the more affordable sister line when compared to his eponymous women’s ready-to-wear and accessories label. He explained in an Instagram post that Grey Jason Wu was born from his desire to dress his friends.

“I often look to my friends for inspiration and I created this collection for women who look for beautifully made, well considered clothes that have a sense of whimsy and uncomplicated chic that suit their everyday lives," said Wu. "As the Jason Wu collection evolved over the last few years, I felt that there was room for a sister collection that very much addressed the needs of women who look for a beautiful, seasonless wardrobe that is neither too edgy or sweet.”

The New York City-based designer shared sketches of the inaugural collection in a new Instagram page devoted to the contemporary line. He explained the motivations behind Grey Jason Wu with each post and shared what to expect from the first collection.

Wu added, “I've always loved the idea of collaboration, and with GREY Jason Wu I have the opportunity to work with some amazingly talented people. For the first collection, I asked artist Hunt Slonem to be my first collaborator, and I've translated his famous bunnies into printed chiffon, a multi-colored jacquard, and embroidery on knitwear. Hunt's work is charming, full of life, and so clever-qualities that perfectly sum up GREY Jason Wu"

Grey Jason Wu is set to launch in June, and prices will range from $295 to $1,395.
