The new design institute will offer both short and long term courses relating to fashion design, fashion buying, brand management, and fashion business. Teachers will both be flown in from Milan and sourced from India and local brands and fashion associations will also be contacted and partnered with.

Istituto Marangoni which was first set up in 1935 has campuses in London, Milan, Shenzhen, Paris, Florence, and Shanghai and Roberto Riccio, Istituto Marangoni’s Group Managing Director assured that the same teaching experience will also be offered in Mumbai. Both 50 and 100 percent scholarships will be offered to select Indian students based on merit and courses will contain theory as well as practical experience.

Tarun Pandey, the COO for the Indian Subcontinent, Istituto Marangoni, explained that, for full time students, the first two years of the programme will take place in Mumbai and students will be able to select any of the other international campuses for their third and final year. After some years, the school may also look into the possibility of partnerships.

Riccio, when asked what Istituto Marangoni uniquely has to offer, stated that, “The interest for entrepreneurship among students is increasing. The crucial question being asked in the job market is the institute where an individual has graduated from. That is where we will be able to offer a difference”, referring to the institute’s international reputation.
