Indian fashion designer Ritu Kumar said with new emerging platforms, there is a much bigger playing field for fashion, which indicates that the Indian fashion industry is moving in the right direction. She also added that new generation of fashion designers are very creative, who altogether have contributed in taking the Indian fashion industry forward.

Speaking to a news agency, the veteran designer said that many new designers have stood out and whose aesthetics she likes and who also add a lot of value to the fashion industry.

Ritu Kumar is presenting her Maharaja Pop collection at the Lakme Fashion Week, which begins February 1, inspired by royalty and military themes and patterns.

According to the designer, the colour palette of the line is a study in contrasts, due to the greys, blues, and metallics, with bright pops of red interspersed. For the collection, she has picked lavish fabrics like vintage look crepe, velvet and foil printed jerseys.
