The ministry of commerce & industry, Government of India, has raised duty-free entitlement for import of trimmings, embellishments and footwear components for leather, as well as synthetic footwear, from 3 per cent to 5 per cent of FOB value of export of previous financial year.

“Duty free entitlement for import of trimmings, embellishments and footwear components for footwear (leather as well as synthetic), and other leather products up to 5 per cent of FOB value of export of previous financial year,” the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a corrigendum to notification number 09/2015-20 dated May 28, 2018.

The new duty-free entitlement would also be applicable to other leather products.
