IKEA launches first experience centre ‘Hej Home’ in India

Swedish furniture retailer IKEA ahead of its foray into the Indian market has opened its first experiential centre 'IKEA Hej (Hello in Swedish) Home' in Hyderabad where it is expected to open its first store early next year.

The Hej stores will exhibit IKEA products with a demo for bedroom, living area, kitchen, dining, play area among others to potential future customers and help them get acquainted to the company’s offerings.
 
 “With the launch of IKEA Hej Home, we are getting closer to the first IKEA India store opening. We hope our future customers will have a good experience and get inspired to do more things with their homes when they are able to buy IKEA products next spring,” CEO, IKEA India, Juvencio Maeztu said in a statement.

Country Marketing Manager, IKEA India, Ulf Smedberg added: “We are delighted to be in India and the IKEA Hej Home launch in Hyderabad, is a great opportunity to meet the many people who share our passion for home, children, family, food and most importantly our strong values of togetherness and love."
 
IKEA Hej Home has planned a host of customer engagement activities over the next 6 months which include loyalty programs, workshops and interactive sessions.
 
IKEA plans to bring Hej Home experience centres to the other cities as well where it is planning to open stores.
 
Ikea is expected to open three flagship stores in India next year, one in Hyderabad, one in Mumbai, and one in Bengaluru. The company also recently acquired land to open stores in NCR Delhi.  Ikea has set a target of 25 stores by 2025 for the Indian market.
