Jan 22 (Reuters) - Innerwear maker Hanesbrands Inc (HBI.N) said its Haitian contract sewing operations, which were hit by the Jan. 12 earthquake, have resumed production.

The company, which has three T-shirt sewing operations in Haiti, said all of the facilities have been inspected by engineers and have been cleared for resumed production and safe occupancy.

The company expects all its employees to be back at work by the first week of February.

Hanesbrands, whose brands include Hanes, Champion, Playtex and Wonderbra, expects T-shirt production to reach pre-earthquake levels around mid-February.

Up to 1.5 million Haitians lost their homes in last week's earthquake that rocked the small Caribbean country, devastated its capital Port-au-Prince and killed up to 200,000.

The company said Haiti accounts for a small part of its overall production, and the sewing disruption will not affect the previously announced expectations of 5 percent rise in sales in 2010.

Shares of Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based Hanesbrands closed at $22.88 Friday 22 January on the New York Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Shobhana Chadha in Bangalore; Editing by Maju Samuel)
