H&M expands India presence, opens first store in Ahmedabad

H&M has strengthened its store network in India by entering a new city Ahmedabad as part of its pan Indian expansion. Bollywood actors Karthik Aaryan and Diana Penty opened the store.
H&M’s new store in located at Iscon Emporio, Ahmedabad and is spread over 15,500 square feet and has three floors. It will offer a complete range of fashion and accessories for women, men, and children.
The store will also feature H&M’s Garment Collecting initiative, where customers can donate their used clothes towards recycling and get a discount voucher to use for their next purchase at H&M.
H&M India is on an expansion drive across the country and entering new cities. It plans to open stores in both tier 1 and tier 2 cities in 2018 by working towards a fifty-fifty ratio between the two sizes of city.
“H&M is delighted to bring fashion and quality at the best price in a sustainable way to Ahmedabad, we are confident that customers will love by the unique fashion experience instore,” in a statement said Janne Einola, Country Manager, H&M India.
H&M has committed to investing Rs 720 crore (approx $108.2 million) in the Indian market and is placing a strong focus on the country. H&M India also plans to launch home and cosmetics lines in the near future.
