In May 2013, Guess hired on Sharleen Ernster Lazaer as the company’s chief design officer. At the same time, the brand poached Hilary Super as general merchandise manager. The executives, who oversaw the design team and buyers, have just left the American brand.

Paul Marciano, founder and CEO of Guess, said that Sharleen Ernster Lazaer "recruited top talent over the past 14 months, and those whom she hired are all still here. Right now, we have a very talented team. We have 45 people working on design, so I'm not worried. Honestly, we have a strong identity. And if, after a year, you haven’t figured out what the identity of the company is, we won’t just say 'ok, let’s do one more year.'"

Hired at the same time as Sharleen Ernster Lazaer, Hilary Super has also left the company. "It was not our decision,” according to Paul Marciano. “She has made the choice because of some personal reasons. But we are confident in the team that Hillary put together. We are satisfied with them, both in terms of buyers and the sales department.”

The brand does not seem to be planning on filling the new vacancies.
