Gucci names Charlotte Casiraghi to represent cosmetics line

Published

Charlotte Casiraghi will be the face of Gucci Cosmetics, the luxury brand’s first cosmetic line. In 2011 during the renewal of its fragrance license with Procter & Gamble Prestige, Gucci had announced that it was working on a cosmetics line. The new line will be available in a selection of retail markets in September. With Gucci Cosmetics, the Italian luxury label is diving into makeup as has Burberry, and before that, Marc Jacobs. The new line includes eye, lip, face and nail cosmetic products.

The ad campaign will only debut together with the product launch, starring Charlotte Casiraghi, who is the daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot will photograph the campaign, which will include a digital film directed by Fabien Baron. "Charlotte was a natural choice as she embodies the modern iconic Gucci woman,” said Gucci creative director Frida Giannini, who shares Charlotte Casiraghi's passion for horseback riding.

Giannini designed a wardrobe just for the model's participation in the jumping competition of the 2010 Global Champions Tour. Charlotte Casiraghi has also appeared in the brand's "Forever Now" campaign.
