Published

"Giorgio Armani". Quite simply. This is the title chosen by 'King Giorgio' for his autobiography. King Giorgio, as Italian journalists affectionately label the renowned Milanese designer, now 81, wanted to share his own vision for his fashion house's 40th anniversary.

Armani presented the book himself on Monday 28th September, straight after his show, during a press conference to which only a handful of selected journalists was invited, together with famous fashion critic Suzy Menkes.

The 568-page volume, from Italian publisher Rizzoli, went on sale on 29th September in two versions: a standard edition selling at about €135-140, and a luxury one at €315-330.

The book, which contains short texts tracing the designer's life and career, features mainly photos, the majority of them by some of the greatest names in fashion photography, such as Steven Meisel, Craig McDean, Herb Ritts, Mario Testino, Aldo Fallai and Annie Leibovitz.
