Gillette India grooming business witnesses double digit growth, profit up 7% for Q2

Gillette India net profit rose by 7 percent to Rs 59 crore (approx $ 9.2 million) for the second quarter ended December 2017 on the back of strong sales in the grooming segment and expansion of its store and product portfolio.

The company, which follows January-December financial year, had posted profit of Rs 55 crore (approx $ 8.6 million) in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
Gillette posted sales revenue of Rs 408 crore (approx $ 63.5 million) for the quarter as compared to Rs 397 crore (approx $ 61.8 million) it recorded in the year-ago quarter, Gillette India said in a statement.
"Both the grooming and oral care businesses delivered double-digit comparable sales growth, ahead of the market behind strong brand fundamentals, strength of the product portfolio and improved in-store execution," the company added.
“Revenue from operations is not comparable due to the introduction of GST from July 1, which replaced excise duty and other input taxes,” it further said.
Gillette is one of India’s leading consumer goods companies with a strong presence in the men’s grooming segment.
