“The current plan is very India focussed,” Future Retail’s Joint Managing Director, Rakesh Biyani, told ET Now. “I think there is lot more territories that we can take our stores to. In the last one year or so, we have opened four stores in east of India and all four have done quite well. Along with this, our expansion plans include the two major cities i.e. Mumbai and Delhi and as well as the southern markets. For now, there is no intention to take any of the brands to overseas.”

As Brand Factory has experienced strong sales in both metro and non-metro cities, expansion plans will bear this in mind. Average yearly expansion for the chain is between 800,000 square feet and a million square feet, according to Biyani, which is a sizeable amount.

Brand Factory is currently running an “Anything and Everything” promotional event at stores from April 12 to 15 with stores opening early at 8am on April 13. Everything in store will be marked down 50 percent. The business has also partnered with Axis Bank to give an additional ten percent discount to customers using the bank’s cards (for purchases over 4,000 rupees). Brand Factory is really pushing discounting at the moment and the results of the current promotional event will show the effect this has on overall revenue.
