Flipkart launches its loyalty program ‘Flipkart Plus’

Indian e-commerce major Flipkart has officially launched its own loyalty programme, Flipkart Plus, for the Indian consumers. Flipkart Plus will be a free customer subscription service.

The key highlights of the program are free and fast delivery, early access to major sale events, and an enhanced customer support experience.
 
“At Flipkart, we deeply understand the Indian customer and solve for them meaningfully. This means that everything we do is not just limited to a particular section of the society but appeals to a wider audience. With that in mind, we have crafted Flipkart Plus as India’s most inclusive customer benefits program,” said Flipkart CEO, Kalyan Krishnamurthy.

“With its wide reach, appeal, and design to cater to the needs of various customer segments, Flipkart Plus is ideally positioned to make a strong impact on the rewards industry and act as a catalyst in the evolution of e-commerce in India,” he added.
 
With this service, Flipkart is looking to take on Amazon Prime, which is one of the highest revenue earners for the Seattle-based company.

Flipkart, for the moment, has decided to keep its subscription service for free after its paid subscription service, called 'Flipkart First', which cost Rs 500 ($7) annually, failed to take off last year.
