Flipkart launches ‘Big 10’ campaign as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations

India’s largest e-commerce firm Flipkart launched its ‘Big 10’ campaign with plans to hold more sale events over the course of the next 6-9 months and push into more verticals as part of its private label push, as it gears up to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

“We will be completing 10 years in October this year and it is relevant for the startup ecosystem in India as well. We plan to engage with our partners, customers and employees for the celebration. In terms of innovation, our hack days will be open to outside participation and our flagship technology event Slash N in December will also be a public event,” Nitin Seth, COO at Flipkart was quoted by the Economic Times.

 “The Big 10 theme is very much going to be part of our sale events this year,” said Seth.

Seth also indicated that Flipkart was pushing ahead aggressively with its venture into private labels, which typically offers higher margins for online retailers.

The online marketplace started in October 2007 selling books online and has added multiple categories over the years, the current focus being on large appliances, furniture and grocery.
