The Express Avenue Mall in Chennai is now bringing in a fresh wave of brands, many being international, from the luxury and bridge to luxury section of the market. As for the mall’s most recent launches, on February 21, the shopping centre launched the Swatch New Collections in an event hosted by the Bollywood celebrity Aditi Rao Hydari. The next launch will be the luxury watch brand Mont Blanc.

“We just finished one round of churn and brought in brands like Bobbi Brown, H&M, Forever 21, and Sephora to name a few,” the mall’s President of Leasing and Marketing for Express Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, Ganesh CV, told Images Retail Bureau. “We are now planning to bring in bridge to luxury brands, of which Omega is already present and Mont Blanc is in the verge of opening. We are also in discussion with a couple of more bridge-to-luxury brands, the names of which will be revealed when the time is ripe.”

The mall employs a zoning strategy that places similar brands together to allow customers to easily discover more stores. The current round of retail expansion will build up the mall’s high end brand portfolio.

Express Avenue’s Managing Director Kavita Singhania launched the mall in 2010 and it was the first mall to introduce an emergency medical centre on its premises, which includes ambulance services. The mall’s management are currently working towards an omni-channel approach to keep up with the current e-commerce boom in India but remain positive that brick and mortar retail is not going anywhere.
