Euromed: exports to major European countries increased by 5.9%

Last Year, France, Spain, Italy, the UK and Germany increased their average clothing imports from Morocco, Tunisia, and especially Turkey by 5.9%, according to the French Fashion Institute (IFM).

Out of these five countries, Turkey remains the biggest Euro-Mediterranean supplier, with a 5.5% increase in orders last year. This is especially true as regards to Germany, with 3.1 billion euros worth of imported clothing (+2.9%) and the UK with 1.9 billion euros (+ 14.2%). France comes in third with 1.1 billion euros (2.7%). 

Morocco is the country with the highest increase in orders in the region at +8.8%. Spain is its biggest importer with 1.2 billion euros (+14.2%), while France has remained stable at 826 million euros (+1.4%). 

Tunisia also saw a 3.5% increase in its exports to these five European countries. France is its biggest customer with 828 million euros (+3.1%), followed by Italy with 592 million euros (+2.6%). Last year, 

European clothing imports accounted for 73.06 billion euros, including 54.9 billion from Asia (10%) and 14.02 billion from Mediterranean countries (5%).
