Over the past few weeks, the boutique has been sharing images from their last thirty years across their social media sites including photos featuring designers Rohit Khosla, Tarun Tahiliani, and the muse Jesia Rampal in order to celebrate their anniversary. The multi-brand designer boutique that now has outlets in Mumbai and Delhi is also hosting a public event in Mumbai to celebrate which will feature designers who have shaped the boutique over the years.

Ensemble first opened in 1987 at Mumbai’s Lion Gate and it was the first store in India to stock multiple luxury and couture designers under one roof. Gayatri Tahiliani (known as Tina Tahiliani) brought in designers including her brother Tarun Tahiliani, Rohit Khosla, Neil Beiff, and Amaya and showcased their products together in her boutique. The story of Ensemble saw the boutique transform from an elite club like atmosphere where only the highest of society would shop for formal gowns and traditional wear to a launch-pad for young Indian designers.

Ensemble opened a new boutique this year on August 11 in Mumbai’s more suburban area, Santacruz. The boutique also has an outlet in Delhi’s Khan Market that is entirely dedicated to contemporary Indian fashion and other in Mumbai. Tina Tahiliani stated that, “At least 30 percent of the merchandise in all our stores is contemporary Indian fashion.” Perhaps it is this ability to change with the flow of the Indian fashion industry that has given Ensemble such a long run.
