Ebates announced on Friday that it has acquired digital shopping platform ShopStyle from PopSugar, Inc. The acquisition will strengthen Ebates’ position in product discovery.

ShopStyle

ShopStyle is a fashion discovery and search platform that partners with brands, retailers, stylists and bloggers to bring content directly to shoppers. Launched in 2007, ShopStyle lists over 14 million products and drives $1 billion in sales to its network of retailers. The platform in 2016 launched a universal shopping checkout, allowing customers to pay for products from multiple retailers in a single transaction.

“ShopStyle is the leading platform for fashion curation and discovery—and fashion is a key area of growth for Ebates,” said Kevin H. Johnson, CEO of Ebates. “We’re thrilled to work with ShopStyle and PopSugar to connect even more shoppers with the right retailers through unique digital content. Content commerce is critical to the future of ecommerce, and ShopStyle is the natural fit to help us reach the next level of market leadership.”

In addition to the acquisition, Ebates and PopSugar Media entered into an exclusive content commerce partnership to develop content to drive traffic to fashion merchants. The partnership will allow PopSugar to focus on creating content, while leveraging Ebates’ expertise in e-commerce and loyalty marketing.

San Francisco-based Ebates was founded in 1998. Ebates rewards members with cash back on purchases while also providing access to thousands of coupons, discounts, promotions and special deals. Rakuten acquired Ebates in 2014, and two years later Ebates acquired mobile shopping app Shopular.
