Ducati looks to zoom online with Flipkart

Italian superbike maker has plans to launch its apparel line in India by partnering with India’s leading e-commerce company Flipkart.

 The motorcycle brand is in the process of striking a licensing deal with Flipkart for exclusively selling apparel in India, the Economic Times reported citing anonymous sources.
 
"Flipkart has signed a licensing deal with Ducati that allows them to manufacture Ducati's T-shirts, shirts, jeans and its entire apparel line," said the source.

In India, the sportwear market is booming and there is growing demand for sportswear brands in the country. With the implementation of GST various superbike brands have reduced prices for their motorcycles making them for affordable to the middle-class segment in India. Biking is very popular in India and Ducati is looking at alternative revenue generation options by launching its apparel line in India to cater to the biking segment in the country.
 
Ducati apparel is currently available online on its India website and global e-commerce giant Amazon. However, an exclusive partnership with Flipkart would help be brand reach some of the lesser known cities where cheap counterfeits of the brand are currently being sold.
