'Dior: The Art of Color' will be available on 16 October. In the book, the fashion label's major make-up names are invited to draw inspiration from twelve signature colours, each portrayed by photos, and compare them to works of art.

Or, as quoted by Rizzoli, the New York publishing house: "Celebrating fifty years of Dior cosmetics, this book takes the reader on a kaleidoscopic journey through the history of makeup, style, and color at the revered fashion house."

It is a chance for Peter Phillips, Creative and Image Director for Dior make-up, and for make-up icons Tyen and Serge Lutens, to tell about their creative processes and about the history of Dior beauty. The story is told in twelve chapters, each dedicated to a single colour: white, silver, nude, pink, red, purple, blue, green, yellow, gold, grey and black.

Each chapter features a make-up style illustrated by a major photographer, and each colour is linked to a work of art. The text is by author Jerry Stafford and Art Director Marc Ascoli.

'Dior: The Art of Color', published by Rizzoli International Publications, will be available in bookstores in October 2016 ($115).
