On July 15, Chakr Innovation showcased its technology that uses pollution to create ink in a fashion show

The event, held at the Rangoli Metro Art Centre in Bengaluru, featured a fashion show with designs by Tahera Peeran who used Chakr Innovation’s ink made from pollution particles to print on Khadi and handloom garments. The garments were bold and simple with black ink printed on white fabric with a variety of Chinese characters and the Dell logo. The artist Nala Ponnappa also demonstrated how the sustainable ink could be used for painting and created a piece at the event.

Chakr Innovation’s Akhilesh Agarwal explained how the ink was made at the event: "A litre of ink is made by capturing particles that would have polluted 700 million litres of air, the amount of air inhaled by a person for 24 years.”

Agarwal stated that this could be the future of garment printing.

Rajeev Kapoor, the Vice President of Dell India also spoke at the event and said: "The population is expected to reach 2 billion by 2030. Incorporating sustainable practices in business environments is essential."

Dell is currently using the ink made by Chakr Innovation for its packaging and printing in the country.

The energy company Chakr Innovation was founded in 2016 and has the tagline “revolution through pollution”. The business is partnered with the University of Chicago, Indian and Bosch.
