Dabur India profit surges 19 percent to Rs 397 crore

FMCG major Dabur India profits rose 19 percent for March quarter to Rs 397 crore (approx $ 59.6 million) with revenue growth of 6 percent at Rs 2,033 crore (approx $ 305 million) as against Rs 1,915 crore (approx $ 287 million) it posted during the same quarter of last year.

The company reported growth across all segments with its shampoo, health care categories driving sales.
 
Dabur’s shampoo business ended Q4 with a growth of over 31 percent while hair oils business performed exceedingly well with strong sales in coconut oils and perfumed oils that resulted in 9 percent growth in the segment.

“Despite growing competitive intensity, the India business posted a healthy volume growth and continues to outperform the market in key business categories. Going forward, we will continue to invest behind our brands to successfully tap the significant growth opportunities and deliver profitable volume-led growth," Dabur India Chief Executive Officer Sunil Duggal said in a statement.
 
"We are witnessing early signs of revival in consumer sentiment, especially in rural India. Rural demand has been growing at faster pace. Favourable monsoons and a likely stimulus by the government as part of its overall thrust on rural growth is expected to further boost rural demand," Duggal added.
