Dabur India acquires two South African cosmetic firms

Dabur India has completed the acquisition of two South Africa-based companies D&A Cosmetics Proprietary Ltd and Atlanta Body & Health Products Proprietary Ltd through its subsidiary. The acquisition of these firms is expected to strengthen the company’s cosmetic division.

The total expenditure in the acquisitions is around Rs 25 crore (approx $ 4 million) with D&A Cosmetics costing the firm 4,79,40,000 Rands (around Rs 24 crore) while Atlanta Body and Health Products' was a meagre 20,60,000 Rands (over Rs 1 crore).
 
Dabur India in a BSE filing said its wholly-owned subsidiary Dermoviva Skin Essentials Inc has acquired 100 per cent share capital of the companies. Accordingly, both the companies have become step down wholly owned subsidiary companies of Dabur India Ltd, it added.

Last year the company had invested over $ 1.5 million (approx Rs 10 crore) in the acquisition of another South African personal and hair creams firm CTL group of companies.
 
Dabur India is a brand that specializes in herbal and Ayurvedic goods, and already has a large market share in this segment. However, amidst competition from other natural care and ayurvedic brands the company is looking to diversify its portfolio to tap into the growing beauty care market in the country.
 
To widen its customer base Dabur recently partnered with Amazon India and set up an online multi- brand marketplace for their products on the platform.
