Coach sues Reed Krakoff for back rent on New York stores

New York designer, Reed Krakoff bought out his namesake brand from Coach in 2013, but it seems that the two parties have unfinished business. The New York-based company is suing the designer for allegedly not paying rent on two stores in New York City.

The locations in question are the Reed Krakoff stores in the Woodbury Commons outlet mall and at 831 Madison Avenue in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. According to Coach’s complaint, Reed Krakoff breached its sublease agreement since it announced that it would begin restructuring. The brand closed its Manhattan location and stopped paying rent on both locations in August.

Coach is seeking as much as $1 million in unpaid rent and taxes.

In March, Reed Krakoff announced that it will "suspend all future design and production, while continuing to operate its Greene Street and Woodbury Commons stores, as well as the reedkrakoff.com e-commerce site."
