Camper and Ethical Fashion Initiative have joined forces to launch a new limited edition collection manufactured entirely in Ethiopia. The shoe collection fuses African aesthetic with urban elements to create the perfect summer style.

Camper is launching a second line of shoes made by Ethiopian craftsmen and women - Camper por EFI

The brands’ second line features two unisex styles reinterpreting Camper’s first ever shoe, Camaleon. The shoes were made by hand by Ethiopian artisans using extra soft sheep leather and traditional dyeing techniques. The Spring Summer 2017 range includes shoes in two colours: electric blue for women and midnight blue for men.

Camper’s collaboration with the Ethical Fashion Initiative continues to generate positive changes for Ethiopian artisans. The brand has supported the development of non-chrome leather, shared insights into shoe making and helped local craftsmen gain a better understanding of international quality standards.

As the main goal of the International Trade Centre, EFI’s goal is to empower talent but marginalised artisans in developing countries by connecting them with fashion brands. Partnerships like these create fair and dignified employment in Ethiopia while minimising environmental impact.

Through a mutual exchange of knowledge, Camper has supported the Ethiopian tannery industry and its artisans, helping them improve their skillset and confidence. Meanwhile, Camper has gained access to unique regional techniques and materials.
