CMAI launches GST software 'ADHIGAM'

The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) has launched software 'ADHIGAM' for textile and garment manufactures, traders and retailers to send information about Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance. The software automatically sends reminders to a vendor or a supplier, who has not paid tax at any stage in textile value chain.

"A manufacturer knows which vendor in the value chain has not paid the tax and hence the garment manufacturer can guide the vendor to pay the tax," said Rahul Mehta, president of CMAI.

"E-Waybill procedure is likely to be simplified and various recommendations received on the subject will be discussed in next GST Council meeting on June 18, 2017. So far, rules have not been framed for E-Way Bill procedure and it would take three to four months’ time. As the border check posts, octroi and LBT will be removed from July 1, 2017, the transportation of goods would be done with ease. Under GST composition scheme, manufacturers will have to pay 1 or 2 per cent GST rate depending on certain criteria, but these have yet to be notified," said DM Akhade, joint commissioner, head – GST Cell, Maharshtra and co-convener GST Council.

Further, Akhade advised businesses to come into the GST structure and stay away from any wrong dealings.

"The government would give 90 per cent refund amount within seven days. In case, the refund is delayed beyond three months, the government would pay interest," said Gajanan Khanande, deputy commissioner, automation unit-GST Mumbai.

The software was developed by CMAI in association with The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), in association with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Shah Chambers.
