The C&A Foundation will invest a total of $1.29 million in five networks which will come together for a “learning network”. One of the schemes that the C&A Foundation will be working with is the WRAP and WRI’s Market Makers project. This project aims to create a circular fashion economy and demonstrate the market demand for recycling in the industry.

The scheme will assess consumer demand, try out new business models, and create a common approach to impact assessment and policy making, regulations, and incentives in India as well as in the US and UK. The scheme will also work with over 20 global fashion brands to demonstrate reuse and clothing recycling models.

Explaining the thought process behind the partnership, the C&A Foundation’s head of circular transformation, Douwe Jan Joustra, said: “We believe the circular fashion revolution will only happen when we implement circular business models.”

The funding is being given following a request for proposals issued by the foundation earlier in the year. The foundation was looking for projects that would help to foster circular business models and the Market Makers project had one of the successful bids.
