Biswa Bangla has been performing exceedingly well in its home state of West Bengal and generated sales worth Rs 20 crore (approx $3 million) in the financial year 2017-18 with an annual growth of 20 percent.

As part of its expansion plans, the brand will be opening stores in newer territories like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Jaipur and Varanasi in the current fiscal year.

“Biswa Bangla is about niche products that are about bringing back dying arts from the brink, we are not looking at flooding the market with our products because we work on the entire value chain," Rajiva Sinha, Secretary, Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises told Moneycontrol.

“We will be opening stores in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Jaipur and Varanasi. The new stores are expected to come up well within the fiscal,” said Partho Kar, Chief Consultant for Biswa Bangla.

Biswa Bangla currently has 8 stores across West Bengal and Delhi selling over 10,000 products under its umbrella in the price range of Rs 100 to Rs 3 lac (approx $4500).

Biswa Bangla Marketing Corporation was set up in 2014 by the government of West Bengal under the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
