Bata India Q4 net profit jumps 45 percent to Rs 52 crore

Footwear major Bata India witnessed a 45 percent rise in net profit to Rs 52 crore (approx $7.6 million) for the fourth quarter ended March as compared to Rs 36 crore (approx $5.3 million) it had posted during the same period in the previous fiscal.

Bata’s sales revenue rose to Rs 632 crore (approx $92.5 million) during the quarter from Rs 598 crore (approx $87.5 million) in the year-ago period. For the financial year 2017-18, Bata’s net profit was at Rs 224 crore (approx $32.8 million) as against Rs 159 crore (approx $23.3 million) in the previous fiscal while its revenue stood at Rs 2,636 crore (approx $385.5 million) as compared to Rs 2,497 crore (approx $365.1 million) in 2016-17.

Our connect with the youth was strengthened via Smriti. Also based on consumer insights, we have been moving ahead on a path of premiumisation by adding technologies like memory cushion & lnsolia,” said Sandeep Kataria, Chief Executive Officer, Bata India Limited.

“We continued to invest in improving customer experience with new international 'Red-concept' stores and breath taking visual merchandising. Our smart pricing strategy and operational cost efficiencies, helped ensure better returns for our stakeholders," added Kataria.
