Atelier Versace fall collection channels strength and lightness all at once

Versace played with contrasts, veering between power and lightness, for its fall 2017 haute couture collection, which is being presented by appointment this season rather than with a traditional fashion show. The collection sees precision and strong volumes sit alongside delicate and ethereal lightness, with some creations that are rigid and imposing and others that are airy and floaty.

The Italian fashion house has unveiled a series of eveningwear ensembles, with jumpsuits, mini dresses and long floaty gowns. Many of the silhouettes in this collection appear to have been sculpted directly onto the models wearing them, almost like a second skin.

The color palette is just as precious as the materials, the embellishments and the embroideries in the collection, ranging from white and powder or satin pink to black and antique gold.

Standout looks from the Italian label include a white tuxedo jacket with very striking shoulders and sleeves slit open from the elbows, almost echoing a cape. The fashion world also didn't fail to notice the long-sleeved mini dress in antique-gold-colored leather, with prominent shoulders and curved pleats around the hips, topped with metal strips.

Jumpsuits are key pieces in this haute couture collection, strutted like second skins with armor-like inspirations. These are finished with exceptional embellishments, with detailing in bronze or in antique gold looking almost like a covering of scales.

The Atelier Versace Fall 2017 collection is showing by appointment until July 5.
