Arvind Ltd to scale up denim production, eyes 15 percent growth

Apparel and textile major Arvind Limited is planning to ramp up its production by 30 percent as it looks to increase its denim market share by 15 percent in the country.
 


The denim major will now produce 40 percent of its garments in house from the current 10 percent to meet its target of Rs 10,000 crore (approx $ 1.5 billion) over the next five years.
 
Arvind had posted revenue of Rs 2706 crore (approx $425.6 million) and profit after tax at Rs 90 crore (approx $14.2 million). The company is also investing heavily on production centres and recently invested Rs 300 crore (approx $46 million) to set up a textile and apparel park in the state of Andhra Pradesh to boost its production capacity.

"Presently, about 10 per cent of our fabrics are made into garments internally. We are targeting to grow this to 40 per cent of our production," Aamir Akhtar, chief executive, Denims, Arvind was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
 
“For this, the company is adding capacity of 1 million meters annually, and expects 1 million garments to be produced internally per month over the next few years. Arvind's denims business has about 40 per cent market share in the organised denim market at present, registering an 8-10 per cent annual growth the company is looking to increase it to 15 per cent”, he added.
 
Arvind Limited recently hosted its annual Denim Festive 2018 event in Mumbai and unveiled its latest denim collections on the occasion. Arvind had showcased futuristic denim technology brands like Ikat Denim, Boomerang 360, Boomerang Bounce, Chrome Cord and Hybrid Chinos.
