Anupamaa presented a collection of patchwork, floaty garments that looked like they were sewn together from an array of printed textiles. The collection had a celebratory feel and was inspired by the beauty in repairing what is broken. Candy rainbow striped shirt dresses and bright polka-dot tops had asymmetrical hems and floral patterns mixed and matched for a nomadic feel.

Models had simple hair and makeup which was contrasted by their bright accessories including rainbow strappy sandals and thick gold ring-necklaces with fabric strips attached. This gave another nod to nomadic tribes in a collection that was at once artistic and wearable.

Anupamaa Dayal launched Anupamaa in 2004 as a clothing, accessory, and homeware brand. According to the brand’s website, Anupamaa now retails from over 150 stores in 21 countries including multi-brand boutiques such as Anthropologie and its own e-commerce store.

Dayal won the title of Designer of the Year by the Cosmopolitan Fun Fearless Female Awards in 2011 and has shown collections in Paris and at Rosemount Australia Fashion Week as well as in India.

Dayal describes her brand as “happy clothes and happy homes for happy women”. The brand also runs Anupamaa Mangar, a cultural destination outside of New Delhi for weekend getaways with guided walks in nature by the designer herself.

Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week is currently running at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in New Delhi until October 13.
