Amazon to bring Prime Day to India

Global e-commerce giant Amazon will introduce its flagship event ‘Amazon Prime Day’ on its platform in India on July 11. Indian Prime members will get 30 hours of exclusive shopping with lightening deals and exclusive launches from brands like GAP, ASICS, Rocky S, Lavie, Louis Philippe, Puma, among others, the company said in a statement.

Amazon Prime membership was introduced to customers in India last year for a fee of Rs 499 ($10) with benefits such as unlimited free one-day delivery and exclusive deals.
 
“Prime is our flagship program which brings to members the best of Amazon with unlimited free fast delivery, ad-free video streaming, exclusive selection and deals, and much more. We are thrilled to bring Prime Day to India, curating a special experience for our members with 30 hours of exclusive shopping and new streaming content,” said Amit Agarwal, SVP and Country Head, Amazon India in a statement.

As per the company, this will be the third annual Prime Day and has expanded to 13 countries this year including the U.S., U.K., Spain, Mexico, Japan, Italy, India, Germany, France, China, Canada, Belgium and Austria.
 
“Our members love Prime Day and we have been thrilled by the response over the last two years. It is inspiring us to make it even better this year for Prime members,” said Greg Greeley, Vice President, Amazon Prime.
