Amazon arrived in Latin America’s largest economy in June this year, where it will see its online sales grow by 30% to $5.700 million, found a new study my eMarketer.

E-commerce in Latin America has grown by 24% - Amazon

Although Mexico’s e-commerce sales only account for 2% of the country’s total retail sales, more than 15 million Mexicans will be using the Internet to purchase goods by 2018, says the consulting firm.

“I had never seen as much interest as now, from Amazon, consumers and other traditional retailers, to invest on their online offerings,” said Juan Carlos Garcia, head of Amazon Mexico to Bloomberg. "There is also an important demographic factor, as there is a younger digital-driven audience entering the economy."

Mexican millenials, who are now aged between 15 and 34 years old, are expected to increase the number of digital customers from 14 million people last year to 18 million people in 2016.
