Amazon India’s Seattle based parent company has given the business 2,600 crore rupees to be invested in the e-commerce platform’s marketplace, Amazon Seller Services. The investment was filed at the Registrar of Companies. The new investment brings the total allocated to the service to over 20,000 crore rupees (approximately three billion dollars).

As well as this investment, Amazon India received 1,950 crore rupees (approximately 293.1 million dollars) in January as well 2,900 crore rupees (approximately 435.9 million dollars) last November. Heavy investments in India show that Amazon is committed to growth in the country.

Amazon Seller Services is the company’s main business in India and the business has a strong focus on fashion. However, of late, Amazon India has been turning its attention more and more to smartphones and groceries. The business has reported positive results in the grocery section of the market with over one million subscriptions across 38 cities to its “pantry” service.
