Amazon India readies sellers for GST

As India inches closer to a new tax regime GST which will be implemented on June 30 midnight e-commerce major Amazon India is preparing its sellers to be GST ready.



To be GST compliant Amazon has joined hands with e-filing website ClearTax to help sellers on its marketplace file tax returns as per the new tax structure under GST, Amazon said in a statement.

Amazon sellers will have access to ClearTax Biz and Cleartax Biz+ softwares that will help them make GST compliant sales and purchase invoices from day 1 of the GST regime.

Gopal Pillai, Director & GM sellers service at Amazon India has said that the primary focus of the company is to help sellers make the switch to GST which they aim to do through training and partnerships with experts in the field.
 
“ClearTax solution will help sellers on our platform file and reconcile tax returns conveniently and transition seamlessly through GST," he added.
 
Majority of the sellers on the e-commerce platform are currently participating in sales and offering discounts to liquidate their stock before the onset of GST in the country.
