The Kolkata FC is spread over 140,000 square feet with over 600,000 cubic feet of space which will help sellers with storage. Amazon claims that prime membership in West Bengal has been on the rise and the addition of the new FC will help speed up deliveries.

“With the launch of our 3rd fulfilment centre in West Bengal, we strongly believe that we will be able to better serve our customers with one-day & two-day delivery. The FC will enable sellers to use the local infrastructure, save capital and help them grow,” in a statement said Akhil Saxena, Vice President, Customer Fulfilment, Amazon India.

“Prime membership in West Bengal has been on the rise. With the launch of this FC, Prime members will be able to enjoy fast 1 day & 2 day delivery on even more number of products,” added Akshay Sahi, Director & Head of Amazon India Prime.

Amazon India is expected to open four more FCs during the year and hopes to have 67 operational fulfilment centres in 13 states with a combined storage space of close to 20 million cubic feet by end of 2018.
