Amazon has already invested heavily in scaling up its infrastructure requirements and now has over 38 fulfillment centres across the country with plans of adding three more by the end of this year.

The company is now planning to expand its innovative ‘Local Finds Service,' which was launched in January this year to three more cities thereby entering the used goods market in the country.

The innovative service was launched is Bengaluru as a pilot project which enabled customer-to-customer sales allowing individuals to register as sellers on the platform to sell used items to others.

Local Finds, which started with 600 sellers in January, has grown in the last several months to over 30,000. The company will now directly take on leading used goods players like Quikr and Olx in the country’s booming e-commerce market.

“With ‘Local Finds’, we aim to connect sellers and buyers, help them quickly list and discover each other’s products and transact our delivery, payments and customer service,” said Director (New Initiatives) Amazon India, Mahendra Nerurkar in a statement.

"The Local Finds section has so far seen 30,000 transactions and at any given time, the platform has 15,000 to 20,000 live listings for a city like Bengaluru,” he added.
