Amazon Fashion plans category specific events after ‘Denim Fest’ success

Amazon India is planning to organise category specific events on its fashion vertical to boost sales and attract new customers after the success of the recently concluded ‘Denim Fest’ event.

Kids’ apparel, T-shirts, sneakers, precious jewelry are the few categories that the ecommerce major is focusing on.

Amazon said that the Denim Fest saw top denim brands on Amazon Fashion contributing close to 70% to the total denim sales across 5 days.

 “We will continue to host category-focused events on our platform like the way we did Denim Fest. This too is going to be a recurring property for us. The other categories that we will be focusing on includes kids fashion, sneakers, T-shirts, formals, etc to showcase our strength in selection, our strong collaboration with the brands and overall superior customer shopping experience,” Arun Sirdeshmukh, head, Amazon Fashion was quoted as saying by the Economic Times.

Amazon Fashion which was launched on the platform just after the launch of Amazon in India, as per Sirdeshmukh is among the top three stores on Amazon.in and is one of the fastest growing stores on the platform. The vertical works as a magnet category for the ecommerce player to attract new customers.

“Almost 30% new customers for Amazon.in come from Amazon Fashion,” he added.
